The guild normally runs a 4-week trial for new members. This may be longer or shorter if the officer team feels they have seen enough information to decide or feels someone needs more time. We will usually aim to give feedback halfway through the normal trial period (at the end of the second week) and will communicate if a trial is being extended. We may run a longer trial if you join the guild at an unusual time, e.g. during a raiding break, or very late farm where bosses are killed quickly and in a single day.

If a trial is passed, the player will be promoted to raider. If it is failed, assuming good conduct, they will usually be demoted to social and will be welcome to remain in the guild in that capacity.

What to expect
You should expect to be treated like a raider for the duration of the trial period. Ultimately, to assess you, we need to see you play and interact with the guild, so expect to be heavily rostered. We do not specifically deprioritise trials on loot, though will consider reliability when making loot decisions, for which trials are generally an unknown quantity. Nonetheless, trials can expect to be roughly equivalent with raiders in terms of loot priority.

We recognise that it takes a bit of time to get used to a new raiding environment – which is why our standard trial is a relatively long 4 weeks. In our experience, this is plenty of time for someone to get used to the guild and start performing to their normal level. This also gives us enough time to assess social fit, which is important to us.

What should I prioritise?
We will make a holistic assessment of our trialling members, considering quality of play, mechanical performance, throughput, social fit, preparedness, reliability, attendance, etc. As a rule, we suggest that you focus on mechanical play far more than throughput, as recent raids tend to have tight performance checks but light throughput checks. Don’t try too hard to fit in – have fun chatting on discord, but don’t overdo it when you don’t really know people yet.

Splits

Tim:

As a guild, we run a single split for the first few weeks and expect all raiding members to have one split character.

Splits FAQ
Wtf is a split? - as the name suggests, we split the raid, in our case, in half. We mix half mains, half alts, with the mains getting all of the gear which drops, then we do it again, with the characters reversed. So we end up with twice as much gear on the mains (at the cost of none on the alts for that week). We can effectively spend a bit more time doing two runs and get twice the gear for our mains.

So I don't get gear on my alt? - not on week 1 or 2 at least, beyond what the mains don't need. Don't linger too much on this thought, I don't think almost anyone does raid content on alts in the very early weeks. And the mains will pay the alts back later in the tier, because they already have much more of the gear they need.

This sounds like a lot of effort - yes, but really only for officers. We'll figure out which characters join which raid and deal with loot, which are the time consuming bits.

What if the raid is really hard? - looking at tiers like Sepulcher which had a massive wall at heroic Anduin, this actually still works fine even if we can't do the whole thing as a split. We can split the first x bosses, then merge the mains for the harder stuff (and immediately reap the benefits).

What content might we do as a split? - impossible to say until NA launches and we see difficulty, but we won't bang our heads against the wall for the sake of splitting an extra boss. From previous tiers, all of normal is splittable and often all but the last couple of bosses in heroic, but ultimately, as much heroic as makes sense - which might be up to the last boss or might be much less.

Is this worth our time? - absolutely yes, it’s simply the best way to spend our time to gear our characters. It gives us a huge leg up in gearing, which gives a burst of early progress because we aren’t so vulnerable to gear checks – which gives more mythic vault slots and snowballs. We have done splits for several tiers now, and they have always paid off.

What do I need to do?
Have an alt geared and ready to go for the new raid. At the moment (Midnight season 1), we’re asking that split alts be at least 237 item level.

Your alt will need to be the same role as you – if you’re usually a DPS player, you’ll need a DPS alt. If you’re usually a healer, you’ll need a healer alt. This is to keep things simple. Your alt doesn’t need to be the same class, as long as they can fulfil the role and you can play the character to a high standard. You are welcome to mirror if you aren’t confident on another class, or if it's just easier for you. There generally isn’t a problem swapping between ranged and melee for the purpose of splits, but you may want to check with officers to make sure the split characters aren’t too melee heavy.

Otherwise, simply turn up to the raid on the correct character – officers will let you know which raid to bring your main, and which raid to bring your alt to.

Remember, per our raid Schedule we always add an extra raid day for the first two weeks of a tier - this is partly to accommodate splits.

In game, loot is assigned through loot council – please check Addons to ensure you have the necessary addons to manage this.

The loot addon will automatically pass on items, allowing them to be picked up by the loot master, who will ask you to select from several options for each item.

The options are:

Loot options
* "Best in slot" – this is an item you will wear for essentially every boss in the raid. Hopefully goes without saying that only a single item per slot should be tagged “best in slot”. If you wear a crafted item in this slot, or your best item comes from outside the raid, no item should be tagged BIS. If there’s a very good reason you need multiple sets (e.g. a single target build and an aoe build), you can DM an officer to explain, but you’re only likely to get one item at an initially elevated priority in that slot.
* "Major upgrade" is relative to what you currently have. This should be an upgrade we’ll be able to see in the meters a reasonable DPS bump minimum for DPS mains (or rough equivalent performance boost for tanks and healers).
* "Minor upgrade" is for any performance-improving item which doesn’t meet the bar for being “major” – stat improvements, rolls for tertiary on tier, etc.
* "Raid offspec" is for offspecs you’re going to play in the raid. For example, if an outlaw rogue plans to play sub for a boss, daggers could be a raid offspec pick. You should only pick this option if there’s a clear use case of a boss where you’ll gain a meaningful benefit from playing a different spec.
* "Non-raid offspec" is for other offspec gear, e.g. gear you would use for M+, PvP, or similar. Transmog gear is not non-raid offspec gear – there’s a transmog button in the addon, but we aren’t looking to capture data about it here.
* "Transmog" is for items which don't represent a performance increase in any context, but make the transmog counter go up. This is only an option in game, you can select pass on wowaudit. Items in this category are raid rolled between people who want them.
* "Pass" is, obviously, for anything you don’t want to use in any content.

Gearing philosophy
Our goal as a guild is to kill bosses as quickly as possible. We do this by getting the right items to the right people, to keep the pull count as low as possible. We hope that raiders always share this philosophy and are up front about when an item is better for someone else. We also want to know if an item is critical for your performance, as long as this is done with the intention of advancing the guild’s progress, not gearing your own character as much as possible.

Our decisions can only be as accurate as our data, so please make it your mission to help us understand what you need. Loot is a tool that we want to make the best use of.

We welcome occasional questions about loot decisions (though don't want to get into auditing every loot decision) - but most decisions are taken on a range of factors, especially consider performance during the tier, attendance, upcoming bosses, etc.

The options are broadly the same in both readycheck and in-game:

This is only an option in game, you can select pass on readycheck.

* Guild members should always aim to treat one another fairly and with transparency, including officers (in both directions).
* We place a high value on commitment and reliability.
** We aim to recruit people who will be with the guild for the longer term (multiple tiers, no guild hoppers, care with repeat quitters and returners).
** We roster based around attendance/availability as the most significant factor, especially for long bosses.

* Achieve cutting edge every tier, as quickly as possible, without going to extremes which make the game unfun (e.g. permanent early extend).
* Continuously and incrementally improve each tier. This may mean a gain in world rank, and/or any number of less measurable improvements.
* Foster a fun, chill raid environment that avoids unnecessary drama.
* Communicate clear objectives for content outside of raid, and hold membership to a high but achieveable standard for reaching it.

Guiding principles:

* The guild's successes are everyone's successes. We expect that everyone consider loot and rostering decisions especially from this perspective. We kill bosses as a guild, we gear up as a guild, we succeed as a guild.
* We will always aim to treat guild members fairly and with transparency.
* We place a high value on commitment and reliability.
** We aim to recruit people who will be with the guild for the long term (multiple tiers, no guild hoppers or repeat quitters and returners).
** We roster based around attendance/availability as the most significant factor, especially for long bosses.

| Council || Guild leadership, these are people who generally give advice or help with minor, less time-consuming tasks, but usually won't have significant specific responsibility.
The officer team will discuss this at the end of every tier. We don't make the requirements public to ensure it isn't gamed, but we'll look at a combination of attendance, performance and attitude. To set expectations, usually veterans have been in the guild for several years, across multiple tiers.
This is a "we'll ask you" situation. The officer team tends to be stable, with spots arising infrequently - but we'll communicate with those we feel may be suitable when availability arises.

General stuff
* We won't tolerate actual discrimination - "gamer words" are off the table.
* We expect honesty in how you interact with other members of the guild. Especially during raids, we appreciate when people take accountability for their mistakes - nobody is annoyed when someone knows what they've done wrong and commits to fixing it.
* Be even-tempered in your interactions with other guild members. We aim for a chill environment.
* Putting other guild members on /ignore is strictly forbidden under all circumstances. This is because it breaks any addons or weakauras which require communication between players, which are numerous. If you have an issue with another player, deal with it socially, or talk to an officer - using in game tools to block messages from any raider in the guild is absolutely forbidden.

Raid stuff
* Be on time, and ensure you inform us in advance of any Absence or lateness.
* Remember, our goal is to kill bosses as a guild - this means that you won't win every loot piece and will occasionally find yourself on the bench. Try to be selfless in how you approach progress and recognise that these decisions are taken to advance the guild, not punish you.
* If you make a mistake, try to call on discord how it might be fixed. Do not discuss errors more generally while a pull is still ongoing. If you made a mistake, wait until the wipe is called to report it, unless we can immediately do something about it. This ensures comms are not clogged during hectic periods.
* Keep comms clear when the raid leader needs to communicate - we realise (and even encourage) banter during farm, but don't want to lose pulls to people not being able to hear important calls.

Preparedness
* The guild will generally provide all needed consumables except augment runes (which we never manadate until the permanent version becomes available). Nonetheless, please ensure you have your own consuambles ready to use if necessary.
* We expect raiders to work on their characters outside of raid, especially during early progress. We usually ask everyone to at least fill their M+ vault in the first few weeks (though the majority of raiders will do far more M+ than this), and will set expected levels of gearing on a week-by-week basis. As a guild, we aim to go hard for the first few weeks, gear as much as possible as quickly as possible, to allow us to focus exclusively on progress as soon as we can. The game is fairly seasonal now, so our expectations for M+ drop hugely as soon as the raid team are approaching best in slot gear.

Helping out
* If you think we can do something better, let the relevant Officers know, from tactics to any area of guild management. We won't always get everything right, but can't improve things without feedback.
* Try to take feedback in the way it's intended - the goal of mutually improving, as a guild. We spend a lot of time analysing logs, and give feedback because we want to improve things. Please try to be introspective during these discussions.
* It's generally courteous to ask in guild for M+ groups before pugging. There is a group forming channel you can ping when looking for players.

We ask everyone to list their loot preferences on readycheck and keep their loot needs up to date. We also ask that all DPS players complete a weekly droptimizer sim at max item level with default settings (5-minute Patchwerk), which should also be submitted through readycheck.

In game, loot is assigned through loot council – please check Addons to ensure you have the necessary addons to manage this.

The loot addon will automatically pass on items, allowing them to be picked up by the loot master, who will ask you to select from several options for each item.

The options are broadly the same in both readycheck and in-game:

This is only an option in game, you can select pass on readycheck.

This is only an option in game, you can select pass on readycheck.

At the moment (TWW season 2), we’re asking that split alts be at least 635 item level.

If you are going to miss a raid, let us know with plenty of warning – ideally before we complete our rostering for the week. We realise that people will inevitably miss raids due to unforeseen circumstances, emergencies, etc., but anticipate that these should generally be rare. We take an extremely dim view of anyone missing raids without communicating with us.

Generally, we heavily prioritise reliability in our raiders – a fantastic player who’s only available 80% of the time is effectively worthless to us, because we lose any benefit they might yield during the raids when they’re missing and someone else has to fill in for them. Accordingly, we track attendance and make rostering decisions heavily based on availability.

Can my friend join as a social?
Yes, as long as you're willing to vouch for them. Generally, we just expect socials to be reasonable, chill people. Please note that social is not a backdoor to a trial.

Can I recommend my friend as a raider?
Absolutely, though they'll go through the same due dilligence process as everyone else. We will consider a recommendation, however they will still need to meet our requirements. You can speak to an officer involved in recruitment about this (See: Officers).

As a rule, we suggest that you focus on mechanical play far more than throughput, as raids in TWW tend to have tight performance checks but light throughput checks. Don’t try too hard to fit in – have fun chatting on discord, but don’t overdo it when you don’t really know people yet.
